David Hill, a jaded detective, wrestles with existential angst as he investigates a series of increasingly surreal and supernatural crimes: An unearthly entity in a white tuxedo begins to unravel the very fabric of a host of colorful characters’ lives. When David finds his mother’s severed hand–still young–in the yard of an abandoned house, he is finally beckoned ‘home’. But this is a trojan horse to ask the question about life: What happens after it? With stylistic influences ranging from Twin Peaks to Mirror to Jaws, Golgotha pulls elements (and fans) from tangential genres, while at its core capitalizing on the fact that, “The horror genre has the highest overall rate of profitability when compared to other film genres.”
