The Global Environmental Institute (北京市朝阳区永续全球环境研究所；GEI) is a non-profit, non-governmental organization established in Beijing in 2004. As a China-based NGO with an international focus, GEI fuses best practices in environmental protection, energy conservation and community livelihoods with innovative market mechanisms to drive sustainable development. In addition to the lasting impact of our projects in China, our strong emphasis on international cooperation on energy and the environment - particularly South-South cooperation - has allowed us to assume a leading role in improving China's environmental impact abroad.
