GIScience focuses on emerging topics and basic research findings across all sectors of geographic information science. The conference attracts leading GIScience researchers from all fields to reflect the interdisciplinary breadth of GIScience, including cognitive science, computer science, engineering, geography, information science, mathematics, philosophy, psychology, social science, and statistics. We solicit research papers in all areas of geographic information science. Since GIScience 2006 focuses on advances in the fundamentals of Geographic Information Science, submission of GIS application papers is discouraged. To accommodate the variety of papers and presentations that result from an interdisciplinary melting pot, GIScience 2006 will give authors choices about the type of submission they want to make.
