GGN is a landscape architecture, design, and collaborative strategies firm based in Seattle. Our work spans the globe and creative design scales and media: from restorative park design with community partners (like India Basin Waterfront Parks in San Francisco and Owamniyomni in Minneapolis)…to creative repositioning/adaptive reuse of commercial buildings (like Wells Fargo Center / Halo in downtown Los Angeles) or districts and campuses (like Hemisfair in San Antonio). We have a special appreciation for our years of Tribal-led work and ongoing learning that we’ve been fortunate to experience with our Native neighbors and collaborators, including the Dakota-led Owámniyomni Okhódayapi project, the Visitors Center for Three Affiliated Tribes National Park (Mandan, Hidatsa, and Arikara), and collaboration with the Association of Ramaytush Ohlone. Our Meadowshop Initiative is a vibrant research and development space in ecological horticulture and restoration, specifically for our home region of the Pacific Northwest, where we have had an active role in pushing forward, testing, refining, and promoting wider and more sure-handed use of the region’s beautiful native plants in gardens and commercial landscapes. We curate a creative process for our clients and community partners that is inclusive, fun, illuminating, and highly productive. Our work also includes environmental graphics, ecological restoration, residential gardens, and public storytelling / place-related campaign strategies. Our firm received the Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award for Landscape Architecture in 2011 and our founders are ASLA Fellows (2014) and elected members of the National Academy of Design. The firm’s project awards include ASLA National Awards of Excellence, ASLA and AIA Honor Awards for Design, Tucker Design Awards, Society for Campus and University Planning Awards, and Great Places Awards from the Environmental Design Research Association.
