We see ourselves as facilitators who support German companies in their international business activities and foreign companies looking to locate to Germany. Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) is the economic development agency of the Federal Republic of Germany. With more than 50 offices in Germany and abroad, and its network of partners throughout the world, GTAI supports German companies setting up in foreign markets, promotes Germany as a business location and assists foreign companies setting up in Germany. GTAI has 362 employees, of which 264 are located in Germany and 98 abroad. The workforce includes limited company employees, assigned officials and salaried staff of the German Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA), as well as foreign workers employed through the German Chamber of Industry and Commerce Abroad. Germany Trade & Invest (GTAI) was established in 2009 as part of a merger between "Invest in Germany GmbH" and the "German Office for Foreign Trade" (BfAI). The Federal Republic of Germany is the sole shareholder and is represented by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
