Gerard Academy Information

Gerard Academy provides mental health care for every stage of life through an array of individualized services for boys, girls, teens, adults, and families. Situated on a beautiful 12-acre campus in Austin, MN, Gerard Academy was the former Hormel Estate. The site has remained many of its homelike charms, including the family living room, grand staircase, cozy bedrooms, gardens, and trees. A nature preserve is adjacent to the property. When you arrive on campus, you immediately see this is not a typical residential treatment facility. The warmth of the surroundings is mirrored by the interactions of staff with children and families. Gerard Academy has demonstrated excellence in its treatment approach. In 2012, Gerard Academy was named Provider of the Year by the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI). We offer a variety of services, from traditional residential treatment to short-term and bridging programs, including an on-site school and outpatient community mental health services.
