Geotop Information

Geotop - Research Centre on Earth System Dynamics Geotop is an interuniversity centre of excellence for training and research in geosciences. Geotop’s mission is to understand geological processes that control Earth dynamics at various spatial and temporal timescales, through a systemic approach of our planet and a unique expertise in isotopic geochemistry and geochronology. Knowledge gained through Geotop’s studies, both fundamental and applied, aims at understanding better the current state of the Earth system and its future. The research projects of Geotop’s members can be grouped into three axes: (1) Earth's past dynamics, (2) natural resources, (3) natural hazards and anthropogenic pressures. Geotop is officially designated as a strategic cluster by the Fonds de la recherche du Québec - Nature et technologies (FRQNT). It includes more than 40 professors-researchers from UQAM, McGill University, Concordia University, INRS, ISMER at UQAR, Université de Montréal, UQAT, Polytechnique Montréal and Ministère de l'énergie et des ressources naturelles du Québec.
