The Schar School of Policy and Government at George Mason University prepares undergraduate and graduate students to be leaders and managers who solve problems and advance the public good in all sectors and levels of government—in the United States and throughout the world. Schar School faculty members connect theory and practice in the classroom, and make deep connections with policy leaders and decision-makers. Located where policy happens—just 3 miles from the Pentagon, 4 miles from The White House, and 6 miles from the U.S. Capitol Building—students are connected to jobs, internships, networking, and experiences that can only be found in the Washington, D.C., area. The Schar School offers 14 degree programs including PhD’s in Biodefense, Political Science, and Public Policy; master’s programs in Biodefense, International Commerce and Policy, International Security, Organization Development and Knowledge Management (ODKM), Peace Operations, Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, and Transportation Policy, Operations, and Logistics (TPOL); and two undergraduate majors in Government and International Politics, and Public Administration. Schar offers classes on Mason’s Fairfax and Arlington campuses in Virginia. Both campuses are accessible by Metro and are near Washington, D.C.
