GeoDynamica Inc. has developed a unique perspective to geotechnical consulting that is based on years of research combined with geotechnical engineering design and construction experience. This experience has enabled us to provide practical, feasible and innovative foundation designs including design/build and value engineering projects as well as construction engineering services to contractors. Our personnel have specialized experience in deep foundation testing for capacity and integrity determination. This specialty has allowed our clients to (for example) re-use previously installed foundations and save costs on the overall foundation construction. In addition to these specialty services, we have, and are actively developing, proprietary software, hardware, and methods for improving design, thereby reducing cost while increasing the reliability of constructed foundations. Our personnel have a strong academic / research background with geotechnical experience, including foundation design specializing in offshore and near shore pipe piles, construction engineering, instrumentation, and testing. Section 3 provides details of our personnel. The founder of GeoDynamica, Ltd. nd GeoDynamica Inc., Prof. Samuel Paikowsky, has been awarded and performed all NCHRP (National Cooperative Highway Research Program) foundation related research projects since 1999. These (five) projects include the research for the development of Load and Resistance Factor Design (LRFD) and the AASHTO specifications (e.g. see Deep Foundation Design AASHTO LRFD 17th edition). The AASHTO specifications control all the bridge foundation projects in the USA and are widely used worldwide. Dr. Paikowsky\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\'s development of the foundation design codes has led to the following:National and international recognition, as evidenced for example by his keynote lectures at the International Conferences for the Application of Stress Wave Theory to Piles (2012 Japan, 2008 Portugal, 2004 Malaysia, and 2000 Brazil), as well as the Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) SuperPile conference in May 2011 and the upcoming Swiss Geotechnic Annual Meeting in May 2013. Development of the largest foundation performance databases in the world, including the results of hundreds of cases for axial and lateral loading of driven and drilled deep foundations and shallow foundations. Expertise with regards to foundation design, construction, and testing not available elsewhere. For example, NCHRP Report 507 (2004), NCHRP Report 651 (June 2010) and his rewriting of the AASHTO specifications for deep and shallow foundations (the later to appear in future AAHSTO specification editions) are in the forefront of engineering design today. Obtaining a large scale transportation project (e.g. Sakonnet River Bridge, Rhode Island) in which our knowhow resulted in accurate predictions, prevention of major problems during construction and innovative cost-saving foundation design. GeoDynamica Inc. personnel have been involved in some of the largest federally supported transportation projects in the United States. These projects include but are not limited to I-90/I-93 Central Artery project in Massachusetts; I-95/I-195 improvements in Rhode Island, the I-95/I-495 Woodrow Wilson Bridge Project in Maryland and Virginia near Washington, DC; the Tappan Zee interchange in New York; the Sakonnet River Bridge in Rhode Island;the I-87/I-287 interchange in New York; and the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge over the Cooper River in Charleston, SC, which is the largest cable-stayed bridge in North America. A specific list of our project experience related to marine foundations is listed in Table 1. Brief overviews of these selected marine related projects are presented in Section 4.Our clients include public agencies, research agencies, engineers, general contractors, deep foundation contractors, architects, and developers in the US and overseas.
