Genta Incorporated was a biopharmaceutical company started in La Jolla, California, which discovered and developed innovative drugs for the treatment of patients with cancer. Founded in 1989 by mid-June 2012, the company believed it had secured additional financing to both remain on Nasdaq and to continue its Phase 3 studies with tesetaxel, which ultimately failed to close. Lacking financial alternatives, Genta filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in August 2012[45] and ceased operations.
