General Vortex Energy Inc. Information

General Vortex Energy, Inc. (GVE) is a Texas based C-Corporation that was founded in April 2002. GVE is a prototype development company that is currently developing combustion technology for the power generation market. With $5m in funding from the Office of Naval Research and $2m from private investors, GVE has secured 3 patents in the field and has recently applied for a fourth patent. With this funding GVE has built a 125 kW multi-chamber demonstration micro-turbine combustor which has successfully combusted glycerin, propane and jet fuel. The flagship and current product is a 150kW single chamber combustor and recuperator system that will be tested with load utilizing propane and jet fuel at Southwest Research Institute (SwRI) in November 2010. Immediately following the SwRI test in San Antonio, the combustor and recuperator will be tested in an Energent Corp. micro-turbine package in Q1 2011. Following these tests GVE expects to retrofit legacy micro-turbine combustors that are currently operating under difficult emissions ceilings in the United States and Europe. GVE will also be approaching OEM’s about testing and utilizing the technology in new micro-turbine packages. As for future products and product improvements, GVE will seek to build larger size single can combustors for the 1mW+ market, build and test an annular combustor and have a complete glycerin combustor market ready by 2012.
