General System Dynamics is a technology leadership and security consultancy founded in Chicago in 2008 by Brian Greenberg, a CIO who still writes code. The name comes from system dynamics, the discipline of modeling how whole systems behave over time. That habit, model the whole system before you touch the part, runs through every engagement. We work with companies that need a sitting technology executive for a season. As fractional or interim CIO or CTO, we take on the strategy, the budget, the vendors, the team, and the board conversation, and we leave the organization with clearer decisions than it had before. Engagements range from a focused assessment to a standing executive role. Security is where most of our clients meet us first. We build cybersecurity and risk governance programs that fit the business rather than the other way around, prepare leaders for the incident they hope never comes, and translate the technical picture into plain English so the people accountable can decide well. AI is the newest part of the practice and the fastest growing. We help leaders see where it pays, where it exposes them, and how to put it to work in engineering and operations without giving up control of their data. We use these tools every day in our own work and publish some of what we build as open source. When the problem calls for software, we write it: native apps for Apple platforms, web and cloud applications, and the automation and monitoring that keep an operation trustworthy.
