GenAssist Inc. is a company that was spun out of the Musculoskeletal Tissue Engineering Laboratory at Saint Louis University. Here, implantable biomimetic sponges for skeletal muscle regeneration were developed and tested in animals. After seeing significant recovery in muscle function following a composite trauma model of muscle loss, GenAssist was started with the intent to commercialize the biomimetic sponges so that muscle loss may be healed in human patients. Currently, GenAssist is negotiating a licensing agreement with the Office of Technology Management at Saint Louis University. Meanwhile, we are raising money so that we can establish our manufacturing supply chain and finish the testing required to advance to clinical trials.
