The Akron, OH facility utilizes a patented thermochemical liquefaction technology to process 60 tons of waste plastic daily, diverting millions of pounds of plastic from landfills. Alterra licenses its technology to entities looking to recycle more challenging plastics or seeking more sustainable products. It is partnering with companies in the solid waste industry, government entities, and petrochemical companies. Zero Waste Energy was founded in 2009 and incorporated in 2010 in San Jose, California, by an experienced group of innovative solid waste industry leaders.
