Mission: Needs Beyond Medicine is a nonprofit organization dedicated to decreasing the burden of cancer for individuals undergoing treatment. We achieve this by providing vital financial assistance for non-medical expenses and conducting community outreach and educational initiatives that promote early detection and cancer awareness.
Vision: To ensure every cancer patient, regardless of geography, has access to the vital resources they need to focus on healing.
The Relief Program
The Need: Cancer treatment often leads to "financial toxicity"—a reality where basic survival costs become impossible to meet during a health crisis.
The Action: We provide $575 grants to adults in active treatment to cover essential costs like rent, mortgages, utilities, and groceries.
The Goal: We aim to distribute 180+ grants annually to residents currently in need.
Educational Outreach
The Action: We host at least 6 annual community seminars focused on cancer risk factors, preventative screenings, and early symptoms.
The Impact: We empower the public with the knowledge to seek help early, when cancer is most treatable. All seminars are free to attend.

Strategic Objectives
Forge Strategic Alliances: We are continuously strengthening our referral network with healthcare providers and clinics to ensure support reaches patients the moment they need it.
Since our establishment in 2005, our organization has consistently demonstrated a profound commitment to advancing awareness surrounding ovarian cancer throughout the regions of Ohio and Michigan. We have established ourselves as a pivotal local advocate for patients and families contending with this disease. Through the dedicated efforts of our committed volunteers, we have forged a robust platform for ovarian cancer awareness.
Recognizing the imperative to support ovarian cancer survivors and channel resources directly to our local community, we have ensured that 100% of funds raised remain allocated to this cause. Presently, we are privileged to collaborate with esteemed local gynecologic oncologists, including our recent partnership with Mercy Health. Together, we are steadfastly working towards the eradication of ovarian and other gynecological cancers across NW Ohio & SE Michigan.
