Garnett Theis Capital is the Venture Buyout Firm. Garnett Theis specializes in acquiring existing business units from global technology firms, spinning them out as separate companies, and then injecting them with fresh capital, new management and forward-looking product strategies to create category leaders. The firm is a successor to Garnett & Helfrich Capital, which pioneering this unique investment model. Past successful investments include PGP, which was acquired from Network Associates and then sold to Symantec for $350 million; and Blade Networks, which was acquired from Nortel and then sold to IBM for $400 million. Prior to teaming up with Terence Garnett, Rob Theis was a successful venture capitalist, most recently with Scale Ventures, where he led that firm’s investments in RingCentral (NYSE: RNG), HubSpot (NYSE: HUBS) and BrightRoll (acquired in 2014 by Yahoo for $640 million).
