Futurity is a Chicago-based landscape architecture and environmental consulting practice. Our landscape architecture work ranges from detailed residential landscapes to urban community spaces and greenway corridors. Our environmental work includes environmental planning, site assessment, and regulatory compliance support for industrial facilities throughout the United States. We approach our work as both a creative and technical endeavor. Good solutions require strong design, but they also require a thorough understanding of the site and careful attention to grading, drainage, construction, environmental conditions, permitting, and other factors that influence how a project works. We strive for work that is creative, thorough, and precise. Our involvement often continues through construction. We work with clients and contractors to coordinate the work, resolve issues that arise during construction, and help ensure that the design is carried through to implementation. Exploration is an important part of our practice. We continually investigate new technologies, data sources, and methods that can help us better understand sites, communicate information, improve the way we work, and solve problems in new ways. We value exploration—understanding what is possible while remaining focused on ideas that improve the work. Our projects frequently bring us together with architects, engineers, surveyors, wetland scientists, environmental specialists, contractors, public agencies, community organizations, and others. We value the knowledge these disciplines bring to a project and believe that understanding how the pieces fit together leads to better solutions.
