Developmental Services Ontario (DSO) is the access point for adult developmental services funded by the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services (MCCSS) in Ontario. There are 9 DSO locations across the province, serving different counties and regions. If you have a developmental disability, live in Ontario, and are 18 years old you must apply through DSO to see if you are eligible to receive adult ministry-funded supports available in your community. When you connect with your area DSO they will help you: - understand and complete the application process. - determine the kind of services and supports you need. - get access to available MCCSS funded services and supports. - find information in your community. The primary mission of our agency is to enable people with developmental disabilities to attain their full potential in life. LMSCL Lower Mainland Society for Community Living was founded in 2006 and incorporated in 2009. In 2006, a group of dedicated professionals and paraprofessionals brought their individual experiences working with children, youth and adults with developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, mental health, medical issues, drug and/or alcohol addiction together to form this agency. The founders of LMSCL have extensive backgrounds in the medical profession, some dating back to over 30 years. Some of the founders have been host families for CLBC and contractors with MCFD for nearly two decades. LMSCL has become a permanent home for our persons served through specialized staffed residential houses and day programs. All the individuals served require extensive assistance and care for daily living. They have the unique gifts to offer, coping with particular challenges. Like all of us, they have hopes and fears, needs that can only be met with the help of others and dreams they cannot fulfill alone. LMSCL empowers the persons served so that they may assume control over their lives and expand their personal choices, thereby significantly improving the quality of their lives. The Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) is a non-profit organization based in Tucson, Arizona that accredits a range of health and social service programs. They research and set standards for various programs throughout North America, and then conduct site surveys to determine whether appropriate standards are being met.
