Solid Ground combines direct services with advocacy to meet basic needs, nurture success, and spread change. We believe communities are stronger when we support stability and break down the barriers to overcoming poverty. Through 20+ programs, people gain stability and build skills that equip them to move forward in their lives. We work toward ending racism and other oppressions embedded in our institutions, policies, and culture that hold people back from succeeding. By amplifying the voices of people experiencing poverty throughout the political process, we further social justice and support our entire community in reaching its fullest potential. Each year more than 65,000 King County residents engage with Solid Ground to address their urgent food, housing & transportation needs, while changing the institutional practices & policies that perpetuate poverty.

AFSCME Council 28 (The Washington Federation of State Employees) represents nearly 47,000 state and other public service workers in Washington state. Emerald Cities Collaborative (ECC) is a national nonprofit organization founded in 2009 that advances racial, economic, and climate justice to build communities that are more equitable, economically just, and sustainable. Headquartered in Washington, DC, ECC implements replicable place-based strategies in community and worker powerbuilding, economic inclusion, and equitable implementation, in five regions (Northwest, Northern California, Southern California, Northeast, and D.C./Maryland/Virginia) and select cities throughout the US. Additionally, ECC’s national Civic Infrastructure and Strategic Initiatives provide a broad range of policy capacity, program leadership, coalition building, and technical assistance to community-based organizations, government, and more.
