Furtherfield Information

Furtherfield is the UK’s longest-running centre for art and technology. For over 25 years, through nearly 70 exhibitions, and over 125 national/international partnerships, we have developed alternative systems of co-creation and co-organisation across digital and physical networks. 2025 sees us relocate from our long-standing gallery in Finsbury Park in North London to Felixstowe on Suffolk’s East coast. We take with us 30 years of critical imagination of art, technology, and networked cultures. Our next chapter, led by Felixstowe’s young people and community, will explore the town’s future through immersive storytelling and eco-social Live Action Role-Playing (LARP). Furtherfield continues to be dedicated to creative collaborations that bridge digital and physical spaces, exploring local and global issues that matter to diverse communities and places. We envision a world where diverse communities act together creatively to imagine and build more equitable and resilient alternatives together. With an international network of tens of thousands of contributors, we believe a global focus on the financial value of art and technology has led to significant social, economic, and environmental harms and inequalities. This impacts everyone and all living beings-though unevenly and unpredictably—with marginalised communities and the young the most affected. Therefore we work with art and technology for eco-social change—systemic transformation, integrating social justice and ecology—to create fairer, more resilient futures for all. Imagining the possible futures of the places we care about is the first step to forging the futures we want.
