Fraser Valley Elementary School offers a unique opportunity to parents who wish to provide their children with a highly academic, non-denominational, internationally minded education, at an affordable independent school. Fraser Valley Elementary School became an IB Candidate School* for the Primary Years Programme (PYP) in 2014. Our school is working towards becoming an authorization IB World School. Fraser Valley Elementary School believes is important for our students to become reflective, global citizens. We are situated in the heart of Langley, with easy access for students both locally and from further afield via Highway 1, or the Golden Ears Bridge. Our geo-thermal facility provides modern, bright and spacious classrooms, a library and computer room, and a full sized gymnasium. Fraser Valley Elementary School began in 2007 with a single Kindergarten class. Since then we have grown to now offer Kindergarten to Grade 5. We will continue to add a grade level over the next two years. Our unwavering commitment to individualized education because of our small class sizes and ongoing student assessments. Students enjoy a rich educational experience in a caring and nurturing environment. The inquiry-based curriculum embeds reading, writing and mathematics into the inquiry units as well as developing a solid foundation. James Mowat Elementary School is a K-6 school serving approximately 400 students each year from the westernmost part of Fort Saskatchewan. In addition to the regular elementary curriculum for grades 1 to 6, the school offers a comprehensive music program at all grade levels, and French as a Second Language is taught in grades 4 to 6. Students attend ten class periods per day and each class is 32 minutes in length. Our Jay PRIDE Award encourages and recognizes outstanding pride in our school - Preparation, Respect, Integrity, Discipline and Excellence. Our Character Education Program promotes and supports the Safe and Caring Schools concept in the following ways: weekly circle time, Jay PRIDE Awards, and citizenship projects. Our school counsellor is in our school Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. She helps support students and teachers as they work with our students. A number of extracurricular activities are available to students throughout the school year.
