Fulham School Information

Fulham School is one of the oldest remaining schools in the area. Classes were first held in 1916. The first building was a log house that was located on the same quarter of land as the present school, but a little to the South. The school district was established in 1919. The first proposed name for the school was "Mountain View" but one of the foremost pioneers named the school "Fulham" after his home in England. There were approximately 20 children attending Fulham School. In 1920 another log building was moved to the schools present site, unfortunately this building burned down in 1922. Another school was built and classes resumed in 1928. Due to increased enrolment two more schools were moved to connect to Fulham but it was still so crowded that the chicken house was also moved in, thus making four rooms and four teachers. At that time all grades up to grade 12 were taught. In 1955 the present school was built and all classes continued. In 1959, grades 10, 11 and 12 were bussed to Niton Central School. In 1962 the grade nine pupils were bussed to Peers. In 1966 the grade 8 pupils were bussed to Edson and grade 7 followed in 1967. (Excerpt from the Peers and Districts History, 1995, pg. 786) Currently ECS to grade 6 is taught at Fulham School. We have a healthy and growing enrollment of 119 students. We consider Fulham School to be valuable in many ways. It is the center of the community. It is the meeting place to gather as friends, to work together and of course to learn. We enjoy and benefit from a close-knit community with high expectations and strong moral, ethical and work values. Our staff, students, parents and community have a strong sense of being a family and we are all dedicated to inspiring the students to develop a passion for life long learning. It is through hard work and commitment between staff and parents we have been able to incorporate the advancements in our modern world yet maintain the original integrity and values of the community.
