Born into a seventh-generation Arkansas farm family, Blanche Lincoln embarked on a career in public service when she challenged a 24-year incumbent for Congress in 1992. She was inspired by the words of her father, the late Jordan Lambert, who said, "Don't complain about the way things are unless you are willing to make the effort to change them." Today, Blanche is the state's Democratic Senior U.S. Senator and Chairman of the Senate Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, the first Arkansan to lead the Committee in its 184-year history. Senator Lincoln is recognized as a relentless advocate for Arkansas and the issues that most directly affect her constituents, like health care, education, rural development, energy reform, farm policy, and elder care. Throughout her career in public service, she has been a champion for Arkansas's working families, veterans, and seniors.
