Frente Information

The group Passo a Frente was founded by Contra Mestre Boco who began training capoeira in 1998 in So Paulo, Brazil with Mestre Coruja and Mestre Reinaldo Ramos Suassuna, one of the greatest living Masters of capoeira is the padrinho or godfather of the group Passo a Frente. We are proud and honored that Mestre Suassuna has given his full blessing and support to our group. In 2010 he founded the group Passo a Frente in order to begin work in his own dedicated group. One of the major objectives of the group Passo a Frente is to form friendships and community by demonstrating the richness of Brazilian culture through its music, dance, folklore and the art of fighting with a smile, capoeira. The origin of the group name, Passo a Frente comes from a movement of escape in the sport of capoeira which literally translated means, "step forward. Contra Mestre Boco was inspired to chose this name for the group where in life, just as in the game of capoeira we step forward to meet any challenge that life may present to us!
