A new era of excellence is dawning at Texas Tech University as it stands on the cusp of being one of the nation's premier research institutions. In fall 2020, the university achieved a goal more than a decade in the making, reaching a total student population of more than 40,000. In 2018, the Carnegie Classification of Institutions of Higher Education again placed Texas Tech among its top doctoral universities in the nation in the “Very High Research Activity” category. Texas Tech is one of 94 public institutions nationally and 131 overall to achieve this prestigious recognition. Quality students need top-notch faculty. Harmony Public Schools is a network of PreK-12 college preparatory public charter schools across Texas. For more than two decades, our schools have provided students from under-served communities the opportunity to excel in their studies in a small classroom environment focused on providing the skills they need to succeed in life. The Texas-based non-profit organization was established by a group of dedicated educators and university academicians who were passionate about the way children approached math and science. Since 2000, HPS has grown to 60+ campuses with more than 50,000 students, with a 98 percent graduation rate for seniors and a 100 percent college acceptance rate. Our mission is to prepare each student for higher education by providing a safe, caring, and collaborative atmosphere featuring a quality, student-centered educational program with a strong emphasis on science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM). Lubbock ISD provides strong academic, fine arts and athletic programming to a diverse population. From an International Baccalaureate diploma to Academic Decathlon, career and technical education courses and an award-winning swimming and diving program, hundreds of students transfer into LISD to take advantage of the wide array of programs only available in Lubbock ISD.
