Albany County School District
The mission of the Albany County Public Library Foundation is to generate funds through gifts, endowments, memorials and special programs in order to improve the Albany County Public Library in perpetuity through specific programs, direct financial assistance and community outreach. The ACPL Foundation was created in 1976 and became an incorporated 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation in 1978. The ACPL Foundation was created to help raise funds for a new building. The ACPL Foundation successfully assisted with this endeavor and proudly supported ACPL opening the doors to its new building in 1981. Since that time, the ACPL Foundation has worked diligently to raise funds for the public library. Since the year 2000, ACPLF has provided a minimum of $60,000 to the library each year. In a community where government funds stretch to cover personnel and some operating costs, Albany County Public Library relies on library foundation funding for programming, technology, materials, building maintenance, supplies, continuing education, and special projects.
