Fremantle Language Development Centre Information

The Fremantle Language Development Centre provides a statewide service for students with speech and language difficulties. It consists of a school for children from Kindergarten to Year 3 who have a severe language disability/delay. It provides specialised language and academic intervention on an individual and small group basis. The school caters for 237 students who have been identified as having at least average intelligence but whose academic and social performance is seriously limited by disordered speech and language development. It also has an Outreach Service that provides support to mainstream schools in the South Metropolitan Region, Pilbara and West Kimberley. The Fremantle LDC accepts students who live within the Fremantle Education District school zone. We are located across three sites where we share facilities with local primary schools, enabling children from the LDC to benefit from interaction with the partner school for play, sporting and cultural events, assemblies and other special activities. The main administration of the FLDC is located on the Caralee Community School site and here we have three kindergarten classes, three pre primary and six primary classes from year one to three. Located at Bull Creek are a pre primary and two primary classes, whilst Beeliar has two pre primary and three primary classes. The children are transported to the school through the W.A. Government Department of Transport bus services.
