FOXFIRE HIGH SCHOOL Information

Foxfire Schools are the last, best chance for children from ages 6 through 22. Foxfire has been in existence for 15 years and we are continuing to grow with more and more students contacting us to attend each year. Foxfire is a conversion community school sponsored by the Maysville Local School District serving an at-risk student population drawn from an eight county region. Our students, ages 6 - 22, are considered very high risk, not only of dropping out of school, but of dropping out of mainstream, productive society. The mission of Foxfire Community Schools is to impact the lives of our students in a positive, direct, and productive manner by teaching them the core values of working together, work ethic, accountability, discipline and servant-hood. The ultimate goal is to empower our students to reach their maximum potential academically, socially and emotionally while assisting them in becoming solid, productive citizens. Success is a by-product of embracing these core values. Started in 2001, Foxfire Community Schools earned "The Model Alternative School Award" in 2009 from the United States Department of Education and in 2011 Foxfire was awarded the Clemson University "Crystal Star of Excellence Award" regarding the criteria set forth by the National Dropout Prevention Network. Foxfire Schools were awarded "School of Distinction Award" from the Ohio Alliance for Public Charter Schools in 2013 as well. Our vision is to create a diverse, flexible atmosphere that meets each of our students' needs academically, socially and emotionally. This vision will create a variety of options for learning and multiple opportunities for students to demonstrate success. Foxfire Schools provides an innovative, flexible, student-centered creative environment that our at-risk students need to be successful. Foxfire staff addresses non-academic barriers through many avenues.
