The firm was founded as of July 12, 1944. Since then, the firm advised local and international clients on IP and trade matters and has gained its reputation as one of the Top firms in Intellectual Property throughout South America. Within the IP field, the firm has a vast experience filling trademark applications, patent applications, utility patents applications, industrial designs, copyright applications and plant applications. The firm also counsel clients on any other IP issue and advice clients the best strategy to follow to protect and enforce clients rights in a fast and cost-effective manner. The firm offers trade law services to its clients and assists them with the local requirements they will need to comply with in order to operate in the Uruguayan jurisdiction. A litigation department is well established in the firm and it counts with several attorneys with a large expertise working with the litigation of cases before the Uruguayan courts. The legal department has also filed claims against State decisions when they are deemed to be illegal and affected in any possible manner the interests of the firm’s clients. Translating Department The firm has the biggest Uruguayan Translating Department. This department was created to assist the legal department but currently it has its own existence and its own clients. All of its translators are certified translators with a large expertise with legal and patent documents, among others. Clients The firm has clients in the following areas: pharmaceutical companies, nutrition companies, health and wellness companies, entertainment companies, sportswear and clothing companies, consumer goods companies, banks, amongst others.
