Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute (FFPRI) Information

The Forestry and Forest Products Research Institute (FFPRI) was established in 1905 as the Forest Experiment Station of the Government. It has been the largest government institute for research and development on forests, forestry and forest products in Japan. To the demand of administrative reform in Japan, FFPRI was reorganized as an Incorporated Administrative Agency as a policy implementation body. FFPRI has a strong commitment to national needs as an incorporated administrative agency. As the largest research institute on forests, forestry and forest products in Japan, FFPRI has been required to play important roles in the society. In particular, we humans need to solve the challenging issues in order to achieve sustainable forest development. FFPRI accomplished the 2nd phase of midterm plan during 2006–2010, and now it launches out the 3rd phase of midterm plan for 2011–2015. Our mission is to contribute to sustainable development of the world blessed with rich and diverse through researches on forests, forestry and forest products.
