Camp Silverado was a Boy Scout Camp started in 1951 that was once the pride of Silverado Area Council and Swegedaigea OA Lodge. Since BSA discontinued its' use in 2003 by the now merged Mt Diablo Silverado Council (during the 90's), we have been targeting and highlighting the dreams and goals of Robert "Doc" Darter with his formation of this non-profit. Doc saw a need and helped create a non-profit named Friends of Camp Silverado (FOCS) with a mission to see Scouts eventually return and routinely use this Camp again. The Camp has literally seen tens of thousands of Scouts, Scouters, and Staff pass through Camp honoring a long held believe in Scout Craft and Wilderness Education. Friends of Camp Silverado wishes to continue this legacy in Camp and we can use your help. Camp Silverado is still one of the great camping and high sierra educational locations on earth and you can help us maintain this camp so that our friends and family will have access for years to come preserving the heritage of what we witnessed in Camp. Through a partnership with the Amador District Office of the United States Forest Service USDA we are helping them re-develop camp into a Public Group Campgrounds. FOCS supports this path and we are participating to hold onto some of our history and continued legacy of BSA in Camp. Becoming a Public Group Campground does not lessen the personal affection and inheritance of this Camp that is ours, brought forward by the many great scouters of the original Silverado Area Council. These men and women helped frame the traditions and practices that made this camp so great. Come and give witness to their contribution and honor their memories.
