Focal Community Services Information

Founded in 1974 as the "Friends of Challinor Aid League", Focal began as a collection of individuals, passionate about improving outcomes for people living in institutional care at Challinor Centre in Ipswich. In its early years, Focal championed equal pension rights for residents of such institutions, paving the way towards equality for Queenslanders with disability. Today, Focal continues to be a source of social connection and support for children and adults with disability, their families, and carers. Our programs are designed to promote maximum personal and social independence by enabling community participation and building capacity. Our service offering includes: - Individual support - Program activities - Support coordination - In-home support - Children's services including outside school hours support programs - Respite, accommodation and living support Focal makes a difference in the lives of those we support by providing choices, being flexible and building an individual and their families community connections.
