Floridians for Smarter Growth was founded by Sunshine State community leaders to alert voters to the dangerous consequences of the so-called "Hometown Democracy" amendment. This amendment would place hundreds of technical land-use issues directly on the ballot, subverting a well-established, open, accessible, and democratic planning process. Under this "Vote on Everything" proposal, many Sunshine State voters - not the representatives they elected - would be expected to vote on 200 to 300 intricate land-use planning amendments every year. Floridians for Smarter Growth leads a broad coalition of environmental, business, labor, planning, and good government groups in actively opposing the "Vote on Everything" amendment.
