The Florida Commission on Offender Review is a constitutionally authorized, quasi-judicial body that has served the citizens of Florida since 1941. It is our mission to ensure public safety and to provide victim assistance through the post prison release process. Quick facts about the Commission: • Responsible for the careful selection of candidates who are appropriate for parole. • Recommends eligible inmates under our supervision to reentry and transitional programming and housing to ensure successful release once their sentence has been served. • Holds weekly parole and conditional medical release (CMR) hearings throughout the year, including hearings held throughout the state to encourage participation by victims, victims’ families, and inmates’ families who would otherwise not be able to attend. • Allows remote access to hearings via conference call to increase accessibility of our hearings to the public. • Administers parole, conditional medical release, control release, conditional release, and addiction recovery release supervision. • Has a Victims’ Rights division dedicated to providing support and advocacy for victims of crime. • Has an Inmate Supporters division dedicated to assisting those in support of inmates under our supervision. • Is the administrative and investigative arm of Executive Clemency. • Operates out of multiple offices throughout the state, including our central office in Tallahassee and regional offices in Quincy, Jacksonville, Melbourne, Stuart, and Tampa.
