First8-Mi Information

As a team consisting of members that grew up in the metro Detroit area, we all share a personal relationship to not only the community, but the unique challenges that the community faces. In our efforts, we hope to benefit families that struggle with understanding their child’s asthma and those who simply want to educate themselves further on the matter. In addition to parents, we hope to collaborate with teachers and community leaders to further improve our involvement and presence as a program that is there to help improve and educate. As students at the University of Michigan, we all have had the privilege of learning from some of the best educators in the country, but knowing without applying leads to no true advancement. Coming together and embracing the diversity of expertise that each of our respective academic backgrounds have equipped us with, and combining them to create something that gives back to our community has been a goal since the nascence of First8. Our journey has taught us an immense amount about how much harder it is to apply than it is to learn, but also the importance and fulfillment that lies in the process.
