FireBrake is building infrastructure to prevent wildfire escalation before it becomes disaster. Wildfires increasingly behave as urban contagion events: once multiple ignitions occur, fire spreads structure-to-structure faster than response systems can scale. Traditional tools focus on detection and suppression after ignition. FireBrake focuses on the intervention window — when ignition probability is rising but outcomes are still steerable. FireBrake develops AI-enabled sensing, environmental intervention systems, and wildfire data services designed to reduce ignition probability and slow fire reproduction across the wildland–urban interface (WUI). Our approach combines: • distributed sensing and environmental telemetry • real-time risk modeling and AI-driven optimization • targeted physical interventions that disrupt ignition and ember spread • longitudinal wildfire risk data for insurers, utilities, and communities This enables a new operational layer between mitigation and response — where measurable actions can reduce escalation risk before suppression capacity is overwhelmed.
