FIESTA DC INC Information

Fiesta DC, Inc., as a non-profit organization, sponsors and supports several events throughout the year including neighborhood talent shows, Thanksgiving basket contributions, and Christmas toy and coat giveaways to the less fortunate of our Latino community. However, it is the Latino Festival, for which Fiesta DC is best known. As the festival continues to grow in attendance, the venue of Pennsylvania Avenue, and now Constitution Avenue has become the more recent home; and with it has come dramatically increased costs. Fiesta DC will celebrate its' 44th year in 2015, and it is growing as Latinos are the fastest growing group in the District of Columbia by 28% in 2013. The Latino population of the District is now over 70,000 individuals, comprising over 10% of the DC population. In order to fulfill our mission of preservation, promotion, and diffusion of Latino culture, we must focus not only on capacity building of our organization, we must broaden that focus to build the capacity of our community to be participants as well as attendants. We look forward to being an incubator of local talent, develop the team building skills that provides for the next generation to prepare to carry the event. We offer our youth volunteers the opportunity to gain skills in sales and event management, customer service and communication skills. These skills combined with the confidence gained by contributing with a successful operation are all highly transferrable. Fiesta DC Latino Festival has been held each year in Washington DC for forty-three years. It is an annual celebration of Latino culture that features a Parade of Nations that displays and preserves the Native Latino cultural dance troupes as well as contemporary local groups from civic organizations, schools, and performers.
