FFlag Information

FFLAG is a voluntary organisation with a family feel - but our reach and impact is national. FFLAG offers support to parents and families to help them understand, accept and support their lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and non-binary children and family members with love and pride. We do this by: - providing direct individual support for people via our helpline and email support services. If you contact FFLAG, you'll be talking to another parent with experiences similar to yours. We'll listen without judgement and pass on any information we found helpful ourselves. - providing face to face support through our network of local parents groups. We know what a relief it can be to get together with others, share your concerns and hear 'I know exactly how you feel.' - providing a national online support meeting for parents to meet and share support. - creating a network of volunteers to support and deliver the FFLAG mission. This is especially important as we develop a new online support platform called "parent2parent". We also attend local events and speak at corporate events to raise awareness about diversity and inclusion. - being visible in Pride marches, demonstrating support for rainbow families, sending a message to any young person in the crowd who isn't out yet that families do love and support their children. - sharing online resources, especially our booklets 'A Guide for Family and Friends' and 'How Do I Tell my Parents?' in LGB and T versions, 'How Do I Tell my Children? - I'm trans' and 'When Someone You Love is Diagnosed with HIV' These booklets were co-created with families and contain real life stories. - being the national umbrella organisation for affiliated groups supporting families with LGBT+ members. This means we can work in partnership with others to achieve our mission, and we can share our resources with them. We also connect with teachers, schools and healthcare organisations to encourage and support them to be inclusive.
