Fettes College Competitors

Cranleigh School and Cranleigh Prep School are leading co-educational weekly boarding and day schools set in a stunning rural location in more than 280 acres on the edge of the Surrey Hills. Our two beautiful campuses are exceptionally well equipped, with outstanding classroom, studio, performance and sports facilities. Pupils join our senior school from a wide variety of other prep schools across London and the Home Counties, creating a lively, House-based community of young people who are drawn together by their inherent love of life and getting involved in everything Cranleigh has to offer. Ours is a vibrant school that is large enough for diverse opportunities and yet small enough for every individual pupil to be known, supported and encouraged, whatever activities they undertake. The range of choices available across all year groups is designed to broaden horizons and offer both challenges and opportunities to flourish. A high staff to pupil ratio, dedicated House staff and a nurturing tutor system all ensure that pupils’ personal wellbeing is paramount; and discipline is maintained through mutual respect. Cranleigh demonstrates powerfully that academic success does not have to be achieved at the expense of excellence in co-curricular activity. Our examination achievements and university entrance are the best ever. We also continue to achieve exceptional results in a broad range of national sporting competitions. Above all Cranleigh School puts the child first in our decision making, with a focus on the holistic development of young people, supporting a strong education ethic and a day that is built around the motto, which is Ex Cultu Robur (from our culture comes strength). Please come and see our Schools for yourself. You will be most welcome and we look forward to meeting you.

Harrow School is one of the world’s most well-known schools. Founded in 1572 by a local yeoman farmer, John Lyon, under a Royal Charter granted by Queen Elizabeth I, it is located on a 324-acre estate encompassing much of Harrow on the Hill in north-west London. Around 840 boys aged 13 to 18, from all over Britain and across the world, live in the School’s 12 boarding houses. There are about 120 teaching staff and over 500 non-teaching staff, working together in a friendly community. All members of staff at the School work to a single, uniting purpose: to prepare boys with diverse backgrounds and abilities for a life of learning, leadership, service and personal fulfilment. Our statement of purpose has Harrow’s boys at its heart and is borne out through our various areas of activity – teaching that helps boys achieve their best academically, pastoral care that matures them both emotionally and spiritually, and an extra-curricular programme that develops their characters and interests. Harrow is part of a much larger family, which is made up of John Lyon’s Foundation, the Harrow International Schools, and the Harrow Club (a centre for sport and education for young people in Notting Dale that the Foundation helped to establish). John Lyon’s Foundation is made up of a Charter Corporation comprising Harrow School, John Lyon School (a nearby day school for boys) Quainton Hall School, and John Lyon’s Charity (a grant-giving charity that gives over £10 million a year to schools and other organisations in the boroughs of north-west London).

Radley College prepares boys for a life of purpose, leadership and happiness. Our boys consistently achieve outstanding academic results and excel in sport, music, art and drama, but it is Radley's ability to find and nurture the individual talents of each boy that makes us so special.
