Ferrell Capital was founded in 1988 by William G. Ferrell as a risk management firm. The original concept was to provide “capital market” style risk control for institutional investors. For twenty-four years Ferrell Capital has advised large commercial banks and institutional investors on how to measure and control risk. Having pioneered a risk management strategy and proprietary system in the 90’s, Ferrell has proven their ability to control portfolio exposure to risk while maximizing investment performance during periods of high market stress. Ferrell Capital expanded its operations to measuring and managing risks of fixed income, foreign exchange, equity and commodity investors ranging from public and private pension funds, endowments, supra-nationals, such as EBRD and hedge funds. Later, six of the largest public utilities in the U.S. hired Ferrell to assist in dealing with the risks of trading and writing options on electricity. Ferrell has been focusing their research on controlled volatility for investment benchmarks which has resulted in the development of a S&P 500 ETF that is expected to be the first of several global index investment strategies.
