Feather Edge Information

Feather Edge was born out of my two great loves - everyday, functional pottery and gathering around the table to share good food with family and friends. After studying Classical Art and Architecture at uni - where I spent many happy hours admiring Athenian pots - I ended up working in Marketing and collecting bits and pieces that caught my eye. I met my husband, Kevin, when he was a chef in South Africa and his relaxed style of cooking and entertaining quickly turned our big old table into the hub of our home. Twenty-six years later, I finally took the plunge and set up a little shop dedicated to all things table related. A vintage fork bearing the feather-like pattern devised by 18th century silversmiths to edge the handles of fine cutlery inspired our name. It sums up our desire to celebrate and support contemporary makers creating useful and beautiful objects for the table. You can read their stories by visiting our Makers page.
