ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa (ISCTE-IUL) is a public university established in 1972. Pursuing teaching, research and community service activities, it plays a major role in educating qualified specialists and personnel, whose cultural, scientific and technical skills enable them to contribute to sustainable development both at the national and the global level. The strategic objectives of ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa are: innovation, quality, internationalization and development of an entrepreneurial culture. While preserving its public university nature, ISCTE - University Institute of Lisbon is currently one of the three Portuguese universities (along with the University of Porto and the University of Aveiro) which opted the Foundation Regime, the latter prescribing management according to private law. With approximately 9000 students enrolled in undergraduate (46%) and postgraduate (54%) programmes, 350 faculty and 220 non-teaching staff, ISCTE - Instituto Universitário de Lisboa is proud to be one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in the country. Created in 1973, the University of Aveiro quickly became one of the most dynamic and innovative universities in Portugal. Now a public foundation under private law, it continues to develop and implement its mission to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education, to generate research and promote cooperation with society. The University of Coimbra (UC) is a Portuguese public higher education institution with more than 700 years of experience in education, training and research. The first and the only Portuguese-speaking university until the early 20th century, UC has affirmed its position over the years with a unique mix of tradition, contemporaneity and innovation. The University of Coimbra has a unique tangible and intangible heritage, keystone in the scientific culture of Europe and the World, and is a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2013. Nowadays, the University of Coimbra has eight faculties (Literature, Law, Medicine, Science and Technology, Pharmacy, Economics, Psychology and Educational Sciences, Sport Sciences and Physical Education) and more than 22 thousand students. In 2020, UC was considered the best institution in Portugal and the only one in the world top 20 (17th place) in compliance with the Health and Wellbeing indicator, the third UN Sustainable Development Goal, according to the second edition ranking “The University Impact Rankings”, by Times Higher Education.
