The Faubourg Marigny Improvement Association (FMIA) was founded in 1972 in response to the construction of the Christopher Inn, a building with a height and a design that overpowered the existing architectural fabric of its neighborhood. Since then, the FMIA has been a nationally recognized leader in planning and has helped craft the most progressive zoning of the City of New Orleans. Today, the Elysio Lofts Proposal (501 Eylsian Fields Ave.) threatens the delicate balance between businesses, density and residents that have led the improved quality of life of our neighborhood. We encourage everyone to educate themselves on the issue and are confident that those who do will join us in our mission to support developments that are in keeping with our historic district zoning laws.
