The objective of the FAU-ASCE Student Chapter is to encourage its members to study civil engineering and to eventually advance in the civil engineering profession. Students must master the principles and techniques to earn their degrees. The Chapter is a good means for exercising principles of personal and public relations. Members prepare, present and discuss papers, conduct Chapter or Club activities, hold offices, request and entertain guest speakers and visit engineering works under construction. They become involved with community service projects requiring the collective efforts of many, and read the publications of the society. These and many other Chapter or Club activities contribute to the broad personal development by stimulating an early professional consciousness. Students are given the opportunity to practice engineering actively in their civil engineering education with a hands on approach
