Josh has played, coached and/or instructed basketball for more than 30 years. My passion for the game of basketball was discovered at a very young age as my father was a head varsity basketball coach in a rural Washington town. As early as age two, I was often found in the gym watching and participating in his practices. Likewise, most of my childhood was spent in the gym playing and practicing basketball. After high school I was fortunate to receive a few offers to play basketball, eventually selecting the local team at Wenatchee Valley College, before transferring to Washington State University to pursue a degree in education. In college, I had my first taste of coaching while assisting a local basketball program; here I found that my enthusiasm for coaching matched what I had felt as a player. This experience proved invaluable as I sought out full-time teaching and varsity basketball coaching positions. Over the years, I accepted teaching roles in Grand Coulee, WA and Vancouver, WA while coaching varsity teams that merited great success. Within these systems, my role extended beyond typical coaching responsibilities to include involvement in instructional camps and assistance in facilitating competitive AAU games and tournaments. After marrying a Fargo native, I relocated to the area in 2005 and established Dakota Prep Basketball. Our business specialized in organizing youth basketball tournaments for local school-aged players. Dakota Prep Basketball grew quickly with high-quality, well organized tournaments and was recognized by the North Dakota girls AAU program to host their national qualifying tournaments. During this time, I also taught and coached at Oak Grove and offered trainings for one-on-one skill development.
