Faramarzi Gallery officially opened in 1999, when the Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance set to issue license to galleries. Besides mounting exhibitions, the gallery gained reputation in Tehran art scene by holding biweekly artistic gatherings attended by the artists and critics. However since 2004 to 2013 Faramarzi Gallery concentrated more on education and research activities as well as publication of articles on visual arts in newspapers and magazines, and the gallery exhibitions relatively diminished for these 9 years. Today, with a new attitude and based on experiences in recent years, the gallery is going to resume its activities. Providing youth with opportunity and encouraging the innovative ideas the gallery intends to present works by young artists alongside those by the preceding generations and to be a site for representing the contemporary art practice in Iran and the region.
