Fanatic Records is the next-step evolution of Fanatic Promotion, a NYC public relations agency started in 1997 by Josh Bloom that has come to be known as a vital source in the industry for discovering new talent. To date, a handful of artists that have worked with Josh and Fanatic on the way up include My Morning Jacket, The Decemberists, Sufjan Stevens, Girl Talk, Miranda July, The Avett Brothers, Of Montreal, Daniel Johnston, Kings of Convenience, Dirty Projectors and VHS or Beta. In 2005, Josh partnered with longtime friend and business associate, Sean Boyd. As a life-long downtown NYC denizen, restauranteur, clothier, record producer and musician, Sean was the perfect candidate to help map out Fanatic's future in the new landscape where indie artists and labels register substantial sales figures on top of their ongoing cultural and artistic impact. Now, utilizing their combined skills, experience, and ability to make and market records via Fanatic Promotion and Sean's Art Farm Recording studio, the pair has struck a distribution deal with Virgin Music/UMG to be able to reach fans directly as Fanatic Records.
