Fair-Play Alliance is a long-standing counterweight to political power. We have been watching conduct of politicians for the past 15 years. We are bringing independent civic perspective and we are seeking to offer good solutions. Fair-Play Alliance is a standard nonprofit and nonparty civic association, which was founded in 2002 by former journalist Zuzana Wienk. We started off with the ambition to monitor the spending of political parties before the 2002 parliamentary elections. Gradually, we moved into detecting and revealing of corruption cases, advocating the right to information as well as into controlling of public procurement, judiciary monitoring and publicizing of open data. During those 15 years, we have helped to uncover or move forward, such cases as fictitious donors of SDKU party, “closed off notice board” tender or hustling with CO2 emissions quota. We have contributed to the fall of Štefan Harabin, we use politikaopen.sk portal to publicize properties of politicians, we firmly support Hedviga Malinová and we are looking for as well as awarding whistleblowers – the White Crows. In addition to this, we point out system set-up problems, individual failures of politicians, we push for enforcement of accountability measures and we propose changes to dysfunctional laws. We consider independence, professionalism, integrity and openness to be our core values. Therefore, we publish information on our activities and funding, well beyond the legal requirements and we apply strict ethical principles to ourselves.
