Jernbaneverket established the Norwegian Railway Academy in 2005 at the request of the Ministry of Transport and Communication. The school is a center for rail education and serves the entire Norwegian railway sector, offering a wide range of courses on all levels, from apprentice to advanced, in addition to basic training for train drivers, traffic controllers and dispatchers. The school has a permanent staff of nearly 50, but due to the wide range of courses, the school is also required to hire in a significant number of instructors.
