EyeSense was founded in 2006 as a spin-off of CIBA Vision, a subsidiary of the Novartis Group. Clinical trials with the first prototypes of an eye sensor were successfully conducted as early as 2007. Since 2010, development efforts have been focussed on the development of the FiberSense platform. The first product on this platform is the FiberSense CGM for continuous glucose monitoring. The application for marketing authorisation has already been submitted.
